On 6 May, we welcome Edgar Jones for a rare, intimate session behind the decks as part of Hope Street Jazz.
Two decades on from Soothing Music for Stray Cats — a record that blurred New Orleans R&B, early soul, doo-wop and jazz into something completely its own — Edgar’s influence still runs deep. As Noel Gallagher put it: “It bent my head… one of the best records I’ve ever heard.”
From collaborations with Johnny Marr, Paul Weller and Ian McCulloch, to fronting cult Liverpool band The Stairs, Edgar’s musical legacy speaks for itself.
